The project forms part of a much larger scheme to radically alter, reorder and extend the existing house situated on a steeply sloping and extensively wooded site.

Due to planning constraints, it was necessary to construct the garden office/study under permitted development rights before work on the main building could start.

The resultant glazed timber framed structure is raised on stilts over the slope and is recessed into a cutting into the hillside, the roof is extended over to provide a wood store.  The primary heating source is a wood burning stove to take advantage of the abundance of firewood available on the site.

The alterations and extensions to the adjacent house, incorporating glazed timber boarded living and family rooms and a sedum roofed garage, are currently under construction.
