House in Wilmslow

For this award winning project, we were commissioned to alter and extend an early 20th Century house. This would take the form of a family and garden room, linked to the kitchen. We were also appointed to redesign and landscape the garden.

The new extension comprises a tiled roof with a glazed lantern supported on timber posts. Sliding/ folding doors on three sides enable the room to be completely opened up to the terrace and garden.

The terrace is at floor level with steps to the garden. The effect is of the building floating above the surrounding lawn.

The project received a Manchester Society of Architects Design Awards commendation, with particular reference to the quality of detailing.
